Rubber actually divides into two categories; 'synthetic rubber' and 'natural rubber'. While natural rubber comes from the rubber tree, synthetic is made by humans. There are many different kinds of synthetic rubbers existing today, each with different properties and uses. SBS in particular acts a lot like natural rubber most of the time, but simply behaves differently when heated.
